A force of nature in a five-foot frame, Kara Candler believes that heirloom homes begin with intentional, inspired design. Before founding Unearthed Design + Build, Kara, a nationally licensed contractor, worked in construction before manning the helm of TickTock Concierge, a home and lifestyle maintenance service that coordinates the minute-by-minute logistics of clients’ lives. Through Unearthed, Kara combines her experience in and passions for design, construction, organization, and execution. “The best homes are heirlooms–they’re timeless, functional structures that help facilitate the rhythms of everyday life,” Kara says. “But homes like these don’t just happen. You need a team with vision who’s going to organize every detail, every deadline–so that in the end you can say the process of building has been just as beautiful as the home itself.” Away from the job site, you can find Kara playing tennis, shooting skeet and sporting clays, and spending time with her fiancé Alec on an endless list of design projects in their own home.
